“The blend is beautiful and dynamic, just like our state,” says P.T. Wood, co-founder of Woods High Mountain Distillery. “Colorado is a wondrous place, the merging of mountains and plains, water and desert, rural and urban. We wanted to showcase this dynamic in a way that hadn’t been done before. I believe we’ve accomplished this with amazing results.”
Celebrating Colorado’s Heritage
The collaboration emerged from a long-standing friendship between the distilleries, both known for their commitment to local agriculture and sustainable practices.
“We’ve been friends with P.T. and Lee [Wood] for years,” notes Nels Wroe, Dry Land Distillers Founder. “Creating an iconic spirit like Tread Lightly is our way of celebrating everything we love about Colorado – not just the landscapes, but the people and the communities that make this place home.”
The partnership extends beyond the bottle, featuring original label artwork by Colorado artist John Cross that captures the state’s dramatic landscapes.
Limited Release Events
Whiskey enthusiasts can secure bottles during Valentine’s Day weekend release events at both distilleries. Woods High Mountain will host their launch party on February 14 in Salida, while Dry Land’s release event follows on February 15 in Longmont.
The collaboration brings together two highly decorated distilleries. Dry Land recently secured Double Gold/Best in Class honors at the 2024 International Women’s Spirits Competition and 2024 Craft Spirits Competition.
Both distilleries maintain strong connections to Colorado’s agricultural community through their support of the Colorado Grain Chain, with Woods’ Lee Wood currently serving as President of the Colorado Distillers Guild.
