The new expression, distilled in spring 2017 at the Bulleit Distilling Company in Shelbyville, Kentucky, represents the first Bottled-in-Bond release produced entirely at the brand’s state-of-the-art facility. This launch also coincides with the distillery’s seventh anniversary.
Bulleit Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
The bourbon adheres to the strict standards of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, bottled at 100 proof after aging in federally bonded warehouses. The expression has already garnered industry recognition, earning 91 points at the 2024 International Wine & Spirits Competition.
The whiskey showcases Bulleit’s characteristic flavor profile, featuring aromas of spice and toasted oak, complemented by notes of maple sweetness and nutmeg warmth on the palate. The finish delivers a smooth, lingering butterscotch character.
Brand Evolution and Innovation
The release follows a series of significant launches from Bulleit, including an American Single Malt, a Rye 10 Year Old, and the return of their Rye 12 Year Old expression. These releases demonstrate the brand’s commitment to expanding its portfolio while maintaining its reputation for quality and innovation.
Jesse Damashek, Senior Vice President of North American Whiskeys at Diageo, views this launch as a defining moment. “The past year has been a defining one for Bulleit, and the release of our first Bottled-in-Bond bourbon adds a meaningful new chapter to our story,” he notes. “Bulleit Bottled-in-Bond is more than a celebration of craftsmanship, it’s a testament to our commitment to innovation and to showcasing the exceptional quality of whiskey crafted at our distillery in Shelbyville.”
The bourbon will be available nationwide starting February 2025, with a suggested retail price of $54.99 for a 750ml bottle. Bulleit plans to continue this expression as a limited-time release, with future bottlings determined by their blending team to ensure consistent quality and character.
