Barrell Craft Spirits (BCS) has introduced a new expression to its Foundation line – the Barrell Foundation Double Barrel Bourbon, marking the company’s latest venture in the non-cask strength category.

The new bourbon, bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV), features a complex blend of whiskeys from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Maryland, with ages ranging from 5 to 9 years old.

Barrell Foundation Double Barrel Bourbon

Barrell Foundation Double Barrel Bourbon is an extension of the first Foundation release, which was the brand’s first venture into non-cask strength bourbon since its establishment in 2013.

The double barrel process involves a secondary maturation in new American oak casks, designed to enhance specific flavor characteristics. The bourbon features a derived mash bill of 73% corn, 23% rye, and 4% malted barley.

The high rye content contributes significantly to the whiskey’s profile, while the secondary maturation process aims to develop notes of dark chocolate, leather, dried fruit, and toasted marshmallows.

The blend comprises:

  • 8-year-old Kentucky bourbon
  • 5, 6, and 9-year-old Indiana bourbon
  • 8-year-old Tennessee bourbon
  • 5 and 6-year-old Maryland bourbon

Market Availability

Barrell Foundation Double Barrel Bourbon is now available through the company’s website and select U.S. markets with a suggested retail price of $54.99 for a 750ml bottle.
