The Pogues Streams of Whiskey is a blended Irish whiskey inspired and created by The Pogues, a “disruptive contemporary Irish band,” perhaps best known for their Christmas hit Fairytale of New York with Kirsty MacColl. Their music is heavily influenced by Celtic culture and explores themes of love, loss, and drinking.

Launched in 2015, the whiskey is crafted by West Cork Distillers and currently comes in three different expressions; a single malt, a triple-distilled blend, and Streams of Whiskey.

Streams of Whiskey is inspired by The Pogues’ song of the same name. Lyrics include “Any which way the wind may be blowing, I am going, I am going where streams of whiskey are flowing.”

The whiskey itself is a high malt blend of whiskeys distilled both in Ireland and the UK, a nod to the band’s Anglo-Irish origins. It is bottled at 40% ABV, making it an approachable sipper. It was awarded a Gold medal and named Category Winner at the World Whiskies Awards Ireland 2025.

The collective heritage of Dundalk Bay and Spectac International dates back to the 1700s.

The whiskey is made from a blend of grain and malted barley and undergoes triple distillation, a common practice in Irish whiskey production. It is matured in bourbon casks for a minimum of three to four years and is bottled at 40% ABV.

Dundalk Bay Brewery and Distillery operates a fully integrated facility, handling both brewing and distilling on-site. The distillery is part of a larger operation that includes the production of gin and other spirits. Healy’s Triple Distilled Irish Whiskey is one of the brands under their portfolio, reflecting their focus on producing Irish whiskey alongside their brewing activities.

Jameson is the world’s biggest Irish whiskey brand, and for good reason. Originally founded in 1780 by John Jameson in Dublin, Jameson is an iconic and historic whiskey brand.

The 18 year old expression is part of its premium range, positioned above the standard Jameson Original and Jameson Black Barrel. It is bottled at 46% ABV and is non-chill filtered. The whiskey is released in limited quantities, reflecting its longer aging process.

Jameson 18 Year Old is a blended Irish whiskey produced by Irish Distillers at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland. It is made from a combination of pot still and grain whiskeys, all of which have been aged for a minimum of 18 years in a mix of American and European oak casks. After maturation, the whiskey is married and finished in fresh American oak barrels before bottling.

The brand bills the 18 year old as “the kind of thing you only pull out for best mates.” So, next time you have some whiskey-loving friends over, why not dazzle them with the Jameson 18 Year Old, which won a Gold medal and was named Category Winner at the World Whiskies Awards Ireland 2025.

The distillery, located on the Powerscourt Estate, was established to produce premium Irish whiskey using local ingredients, including water and barley sourced from the surrounding area.

The whiskey is developed under the expertise of John Cashman, Head of Brand & New Product Development, and Paul Corbett, Master Distiller & Blender.
