It is officially December! As we edge closer to Christmas you may find yourself needing to grab some last-minute stocking fillers for the whisky lover in your life. Whilst this may seem like a daunting task there are plenty of budget-friendly yet meaningful options out there.

So, here is a selection of some of my favorite whisky stocking filler ideas. Perhaps at the end of this article, you can put a big check mark next to someone’s name on your ‘to buy for’ list!

Sherry/Port/Madeira

Sherry cask finishing or full maturation, as seen in renowned brands like The Macallan, The Dalmore, and The Glendronach, is a hallmark of scotch whisky. Yet, surprisingly, sherry itself remains underappreciated—and remarkably affordable. You can find beautifully aged bottles of sherry, port, or Madeira, some 30 years old, for as little as £30–£40. Not only does this offer exceptional value compared to aged whisky, but these fortified wines bring the unmistakable aromas of Christmas to your glass.

Whether savored on their own or paired with festive fare, they’re the perfect complement to any holiday feast.

One of our favorites is this White Port from Port of Leith Distillery. Sweet, viscous, and devilishly moreish.

Glasses

Glasses are a timeless gift for any whisky enthusiast—and trust me, they’re always needed. Whisky drinkers are notorious for breaking Glencairn glasses, often in the process of overzealous cleaning.

For a more traditional aesthetic, consider tumblers; their classic look pairs beautifully with a post-dinner dram of something sweet. Whether it’s replacing a well-used favorite or introducing a new style, a good glass is a stocking filler that’s both practical and celebratory. A dram of your favorite whisky after Christmas dinner is the perfect way to christen a new whisky glass.

Miniatures

Looking to add variety to your stocking fillers? Miniatures are an excellent choice. Affordable and versatile, you can pick up individual bottles or curated sets to suit any taste. Wrap them individually for an extra element of surprise, or let a tasting set peek enticingly from the top of the stocking.

Whisky lovers will appreciate the chance to try something new, but you don’t have to stop there—rum, gin, vodka, or even cognac can add an unexpected twist that’s sure to delight.

Whisky Lifestyle Gifts

Whisky-inspired lifestyle gifts offer a unique twist for the spirits enthusiast who has everything. Brands like Noble Isle craft whisky-scented candles, hand washes, lotions, and shower gels—unexpected yet delightful options making waves in the fragrance world.

Perfumes and aftershaves also increasingly embrace woody, smoky notes, adding a subtle nod to whisky’s character.

For something more practical, consider a beautifully designed notebook for jotting down tasting notes. Personalized pens or customized covers can make it even more special. These thoughtful touches show you’ve gone the extra mile to find the perfect whisky stocking filler.

Branded Merchandise From A Favorite Distillery

Branded merchandise from a favorite distillery is an often-overlooked treasure trove of gift ideas. Many distilleries offer an impressive range of items, from stylish clothing and travel bags to scented products and branded glassware and coasters.

For something truly unique, consider Laphroaig’s or Ardbeg’s offerings, such as peated whisky cheese or even peat cones for your fireplace. (Though the latter might only appeal if you’re keen to have your home infused with the signature aroma of Ardbeg’s smoky spirit!) These stocking fillers go beyond the bottle, adding a distinctive and personal touch to any whisky lover’s collection.
