Tasting Notes:

About:
A blended malt scotch whisky, combining malts from six different Scottish islands: Islay, Jura, Skye, Mull, Orkney, and Arran, hence the name of the blend.
Appearance:
White Wine (very pale!)
Nose:
Maritime sea notes, sea salt and shells, coastal bonfire and smoke. There’s some soft peat, a hint of lemon citrus, and a slightly herbal grassy note.
Palate:
This dram is quite light, and almost oily on the palate. Plenty of smoke and saltiness, there’s a brief honey sweetness – possibly the result of heather peat – before quickly overtaken by a sour lemon citrus note, giving way to medicinal iodine.
Finish:
Short, but drying. Smoke, peat, and iodine.
Comments:
Not sure of the Islay contributor – my guess would be Laphroaig, but the other isles malts are a little easier to guess. There’s a definite coastal character, peat, smoke, and a medicinal note – but not a complex dram.

Billed as “a sensory voyage through the malt whiskies of the Islands of Scotland”, The Six Isles whisky brand is owned by Ian Macleod Distillers. First introduced in the early 2000s, this blend brings together the smoky and peaty characteristics of Islay, the maritime influence of Jura and Skye, the rich and complex profiles of Mull and Orkney, and the balanced, aromatic qualities of Arran. The result is a whisky indicative of island single malt scotch. The Six Isles brand also encompasses a number of other expressions such as Voyager and Batch Strength.
