Bar Convent Berlin, the international bar and beverage trade show set to be held this October, has announced OurWhisky Foundation as its official education partner.

The OurWhisky Foundation is a non-profit organization based in the UK that supports and champions women in the whisky industry through initiatives such as its revered mentorship program.

The foundation will receive its own educational area at this year’s trade fair in Berlin, helping attendees learn about the charity’s mission in the industry. Named ‘The Whisky Embassy’ the space will see seminars curated by the OurWhisky Foundation and its founder, Becky Paskin.

In a statement, Paskin said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to play an active part in BCB and to be able to use this great platform to draw attention to our organisation and to the subject of whisky.

“We hope to welcome all BCB visitors to our education area to enhance their education and experience of this wonderful spirit and ignite their love of whisky.”

Petra Lassahn, Director of the BCB, added: “We see whisky is enjoying ever increasing popularity – both in retail and in bars. This spirit has reinvented itself, become more modern and is currently very trendy. And this is what we want to mirror at BCB with a dedicated area.”

The partnership announcement comes after whisky was named Bar Convent Berlin’s ‘Spirit of Honour’ for this year’s event.

About OurWhisky Foundation

The OurWhisky Foundation is a progressive initiative that champions diversity and inclusivity within the whisky industry. The non-profit was established in 2022 by whisky writer and consultant Becky Paskin and aims to challenge outdated stereotypes that often define the whisky world, promoting greater representation of women and marginalized groups.

Through educational programs, mentorship opportunities, and community-building events, the foundation supports individuals in pursuing careers within the whisky sector, from distillation to marketing and more.

OurWhisky Foundation actively encourages a more welcoming environment by highlighting the contributions of women, advocating for equality in the workplace, and dismantling gender biases associated with whisky drinking.
