The Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg has released its latest single barrel expression: Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Coy Hill Barrelhouse 8. The Tennessee whiskey was matured in the Coy Hill warehouse, the highest elevated warehouse at the distillery, and bottled at barrel strength from 122 to 137.5 proof, which equates to a staggering 68.7% to 74.15% ABV.
Now available nationwide in selected stores, the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Coy Hill Barrelhouse 8 has an RRP of $79.99.
Returning To Coy Hill
Jack Daniel’s previous Coy Hill releases saw great success, with the maturation at high elevations exposing the whiskey to more prominent temperature fluctuations, therefore increasing the interaction between whiskey and wood. The resulting flavor is deep and complex, yet distinctly JD.
This year’s release was distilled from the traditional Jack Daniel’s mash bill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye. The whiskey was then charcoal mellowed before being decanted in charred American white oak casks in September 2013. It was then matured on floors five and six of Coy Hill Barrelhouse 8.

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Coy Hill Barrelhouse 8 features aromas of “baking spices, cinnamon and clove [that] pair with a balanced finished of charred oak and dark brown sugar.” The palate dances with “signature notes of caramel and vanilla alongside hints of candied fruit, rich toffee and molasses.”
