Indian whisky fans rejoice! Indri Whisky is coming to the UK.

Indri Whisky, produced by Piccadily – India’s largest independent malt spirits producer – was launched in the Indian domestic market in 2021. In 2022, it was brought to the international market. Now, Mangrove Global is launching the award-winning Indian whisky in the UK market. Specifically, the expressions Dru and Trini.

Indri Dru & Trini Indian Whisky

Indri Trini is the brand’s flagship expression, comprising whiskies matured in three different types of cask: ex-bourbon, ex-French wine, and ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry. According to the official press release: “This three-wood marriage allows for each cask to contribute its unique taste, without overshadowing the original Whisky’s flavour, which features a fruitier, sweeter and nuttier profile.”

Indri Dru, another popular expression in the Indri range, is a cask-strength whisky matured in selected ex-bourbon barrels. Named for a vessel in ancient mythology that was filled with a drink and offered to the Gods, Dru is blended from casks hand-selected by Master Blender, Surrinder Kumar. “The end result is a complex and fairly long, mixed fruit finish and a true awakening of the senses.”

Also available will be limited numbers of Indri’s famous Diwali expression, released in 2023. These will be exclusively allocated to selected customers. Indri Diwali is distilled from peated six-row barley and matured in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The expression has been globally recognized and won multiple awards, including a double gold medal at the Whiskies of the World Awards in 2023.

Mangrove Global

Mangrove Global, the premium spirits distributor, is an established name in whisky distribution across the globe, with brands such as Uncle Nearest, Akashi, and Red Bank Whisky

The company was established in 2006 by John Coe and Nick Gillett and recently acquired by GBH, based in Martinique. Mangrove is looking to expand its operations throughout the rest of 2024, and bring more award-winning spirit brands to the UK market.

Speaking about the launch of Indri Whisky in the UK, Stef Holt, Curator of the Mangrove Whisky Portfolio commented: “There is something really exciting about whiskies produced and aged in such extreme climates – the way the production processes are tweaked because of this produces flavours you can’t find anywhere else. Indri’s whiskies are very rich and complex with tropical fruit aromas and velvety texture.

“I’m already looking forward to the conversations this whisky will start at tastings in the not-so-distant future!”
