Iconic scotch whisky brand, Glenfiddich, has today announced a long-term partnership with Aston Martin Formula One Team. Launching at the Las Vegas Grand Prix this weekend, the partnership will see Glenfiddich and Aston Martin work together to innovate, design, and engage more global fans in the world of F1.
In celebration of the partnership, Glenfiddich has unveiled an exclusive 1959 expression that commemorates Aston Martin’s entrance to Formula One in the same year.
Glenfiddich & Aston Martin’s Shared Values
Together, Glenfiddich and Aston Martin Formula One team hope to transcend industries and embody the shared values of both brands: craftsmanship, excellence, and innovation. With Glenfiddich being a longstanding beacon of innovation in the whisky industry, and Aston Martin continuing to push boundaries in the world of motorsport, the partnership makes perfect sense.
“At Aston Martin Formula One® Team, we continuously push boundaries to set new standards, and Glenfiddich embodies that same spirit of perfection and innovation. The Las Vegas Grand Prix is the perfect stage to debut our partnership, and we’re excited to offer fans an unforgettable experience that transcends the racetrack and whisky world alike,” said Lawrence Stroll, Owner and Executive Chairman of Aston Martin Formula One Team.
In addition, the brands hope to promote the message: “You should never drink and drive”, with the partnership acting as a global platform for this important lesson.
“This partnership between Glenfiddich and Aston Martin Formula One® Team is rooted in a shared passion for excellence and innovation,” added Søren Hagh, CEO of William Grant & Sons. “Glenfiddich’s whisky-making heritage meets Aston Martin’s iconic presence in motorsport, creating a timeless yet forward-thinking partnership. Together, we’re inspiring a global audience, inviting them to experience a legacy built on dedication and mastery.”
The Glenfiddich 1959
The special Glenfiddich 1959 expression was unearthed from the Glenfiddich archives in celebration of this exciting partnership. Drawn from a very rare sherry butt, the whisky is emblematic of the craftsmanship involved in creating Glenfiddich single malt scotch whisky.

In addition, the vintage of the whisky brings to mind a decade of innovation for both Glenfiddich and Aston Martin. In the 1950s, Glenfiddich Malt Master, Gordon Grant, was focused on the future and saw the potential for the rise in popularity of single malt scotch at a time when blends ruled the market. This cask, laid down by Grant, is a testament to Glenfiddich’s forward thinking and vision for the future.
1959 was also an important year for Aston Martin in which the brand was beginning its transformation into a global symbol of luxury. It also marked the brand’s first foray into the world or Formula One.
“This limited edition 1959 bottling represents a pivotal moment in history – the year Aston Martin first entered Formula One and won Le Mans. To honor this milestone, we delved deep into the Glenfiddich archives and unearthed this exceptional expression from that very year,” commented Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich Malt Master. “It is a rare whisky that embodies the essence of this partnership, capturing the spirit of innovation and excellence that both Glenfiddich and Aston Martin have upheld for decades. The bottle is a tribute to our shared legacy, connecting the past with the future in a truly remarkable way.”
The Glenfiddich 1959 commemorative whisky will be made available at some point during the multi-year partnership, allowing scotch whisky lovers and Formula One fans to own an expression in which their two interests collide.
Tasting Notes
Courtesy of Glenfiddich:
“Nose: Rich Oak, aged leather, tannin, beeswax and the unmistakable aroma of an earthen floor dunnage warehouse. A tiny drop of water releases a wave of sweetness, dried fruit, raisins and sun-dried prunes.
Taste: Incredibly complex with complex flavors in every sip. Oaky, spicy, cloves, dates, walnuts, Christmas pudding and dark chocolate. The flavor meanders from sweet to dry and back again.
Finish: A dry rich tannin aftertaste”
What Else Can We Expect From The Partnership?
Starting in 2025, Glenfiddich and Aston Martin Formula One Team will come together to engage fans in the worlds of whisky and Formula One. Through exclusive events, experiences, and releases, the two brands will promote the thrill of Formula One and the refined experience of drinking single malt scotch whisky.
