Luxury scotch whisky distillery, The Macallan, has just unveiled The Macallan TIME : SPACE Collection. As is the case with many of Macallan’s ultra-premium releases, there is one incredibly old and extremely expensive whisky, coupled with a younger and more accessible release. In this case, the younger release is The Macallan TIME : SPACE Mastery, priced at £1,100 ($1,500).

The Macallan TIME : SPACE Mastery Whisky
The second release in the TIME : SPACE Collection is Mastery, a whisky crafted to pay tribute to the many past Whisky Masters at The Macallan.
In selecting and carefully blending casks from across the brand’s inventory – with no less than 14 different cask types – Lead Whisky Maker for the Mastery, Euan Kennedy, has curated a single malt with incredible depth and complexity.

“Inspired by past masters, we have explored the full extent of our warehouses to capture the complex influences of cask seasoning, oak origin, cask size and distillery character in one incredibly special bottle of whisky – with the elegance provided by European Oak sitting at its heart,” said Kennedy.
The Macallan TIME : SPACE Mastery Packaging
The Macallan TIME : SPACE Mastery is presented, similarly, in a circular decanter with a whole in the middle that, according to the brand press release, represents “the circle of life and the ongoing journey from the past to the future.”
The sleek decanter is then housed in a bespoke presentation case that is bright red and adorned, again, with 200 red spikes created using the ancient art of origami.

How Much Does The Whisky Cost?
Whilst The Macallan has kept the pricing of TIME : SPACE close to its chest, it has been revealed that the Mastery will be priced at £1,100 ($1,500) and will be available to purchase from The Macallan, subject to availability and location. It will also be available via The Macallan Society Ballot in the UK and Europe.
This practice is something that has become typical of The Macallan – releasing an ultra-luxury, exclusive bottling with an astronomical price tag, along with a cheaper and more accessible version so that everyone can have a piece of The Macallan.
200 Years Passed, Forever To Go
Jaume Ferras, Creative Director At The Macallan, said of the collection: “The introduction of TIME : SPACE COLLECTION is an incredible way to pay respect to our 200th anniversary by celebrating the significance of those who have come before us, yet it is also a symbol of anticipation of what is to come, as we build upon our heritage and look to times ahead.”
The Hero Films
The release of The Macallan TIME : SPACE Collection will be followed by the launch of two “hero films” that will play on billboards all over the world. In a press release, The Macallan stated that the films: “take audiences on a journey through a spiky world where time flows and nature protects what is most precious. The films follow two distinct stories, yet both highlight The Macallan’s intrinsic connection to nature through different characters, animals and plants.”
