House of Hazelwood made waves in the whisky world upon the launch of The 2024 Collection earlier this year – the third collection from the brand. Featuring high-age-statement blended malts and grains, the Legacy Collection and the Charles Gordon Collection represent some of House of Hazelwood’s most revered stocks.

Upon the public launch, there was palpable excitement among whisky enthusiasts. One such enthusiast is Beth Whymark, who was lucky enough to sample a number of bottles from House of Hazelwood’s 2024 Collection. So, to give some additional context to Beth’s reviews, let’s take a look at the luxurious whiskies from House of Hazelwood.

The Gordon Family & House of Hazelwood

The House of Hazelwood is a whisky collection curated by the Gordon family, known for their long-standing dedication to Scotch whisky. The collection takes its name from Hazelwood House, the family’s historic home in Dufftown, Scotland, and features rare and aged whiskies spanning seven decades.

Initially held privately for family celebrations and personal enjoyment, the collection has recently been made available to collectors and enthusiasts. Each release highlights Scotland’s diverse whisky heritage, showcasing casks from various regions and production methods that are now increasingly rare.

The Gordon family has carefully selected these whiskies, paying close attention to the maturation environments to enhance each cask’s unique characteristics. This precise approach reflects their commitment to preserving exceptional examples of Scotch whisky.

The House of Hazelwood collection represents an important legacy, offering a range of whiskies that capture the history and craftsmanship of Scotland’s whisky industry, while celebrating the family’s expertise and passion.

The Legacy Collection

House of Hazelwood’s legacy collection “represents a legacy for future generations to explore and enjoy.” Showcasing some whiskies that are the first of their kind, and highlights within the brand’s extensive inventory, The Legacy Collection sees whiskies from across Scotland come together to form a holistic view of the whisky industry.

The Charles Gordon Collection

The Charles Gordon Collection is named for a prominent figure in the Gordon family, who was responsible for laying down some of the very first House of Hazelwood stocks. Charles Gordon served as company chairman and honorary life president prior to his death in 2013 at the age of 86. This namesake collection, in tribute to his unparalleled palate and foresight, contains whiskies aged at least 40 years old. According to House of Hazelwood, the collection “represents some of the most remarkable stock held within the inventory – every cask aged for at least forty years, every bottle with its own story to tell.”
