Wemyss Malts Kiln EmbersScottish independent whisky bottler Wemyss Malts, looking to build upon the success of its Velvet Fig release last year, is back with a new Scotch that’s heavy on the smoky Islay malts. Known as Kiln Embers, it is set to price at £42 (around $65 USD).

Wemyss Malts Kiln Embers, which was bottled at 46% ABV, is a non-age statement release blending together what’s said to be “double the amount of smoky Islay malt whisky” compared against its sister whisky, Peat Chimney. Its name and packaging “are inspired by the barley malting process where peat is added to a kiln to develop the smoky flavours found in this whisky.”

“When I started this business in 2005,” said William Wemyss, managing director of Wemyss Malts, in a statement, “I never envisaged the amazing breadth of flavours to be found in whiskies. Our new ‘Kiln Embers’ is even smokier than our existing smoky favourite Peat Chimney and is a fitting celebration of our ten years in the industry.”

Limited official tasting noes for Kiln Embers are below. It should be noted as well 12,000 bottles are being released globally.
