For those who frequently travel overseas, it isn’t uncommon to come across whisky stores in international airports, including stores dedicated entirely to the Johnnie Walker brand owned by Diageo. Until recently, those traveling through the Americas were somewhat out of luck. This has changed now, however, with the opening of a Walker store in the Miami International Airport.

The new Johnnie Walker Store, according to those behind it, is a partnership between Diageo Global Travel and Duty Free Americas. The 1,145 sq. ft. store, located in the airport’s Concourse D, is said to feature “an exclusive Johnnie Walker variant exhibition which showcases the latest products from the brand as well offering shoppers special personalisation and gifting opportunities through unique gifts, customised labelling and engraving services.”

“I would like to thank our partners at Duty Free Americas and Miami International Airport for this collaboration,” said Dayalan Nayager, Managing Director, Diageo Global Travel, in a prepared statement. “Miami International Airport is the largest gateway between the United States and Latin America with over 44.5 million passengers travelling through it last year alone. This has made it a vital place for the super deluxe Scotch Whisky category and therefore the ideal location for the opening of this luxury Johnnie Walker Store. Designed to educate and inspire travellers, this store offers an interactive shopping experience that explores the history and pioneering spirit of this much-loved brand.”

The store will offer for sale, among other Walker bottlings, a special Miami Blue variant showcasing “the brand’s journey from the agricultural lands of Kilmarnock in Scotland to the glistening shores of Miami through a series of hand-drawn illustrations” that were created by a local illustrator. Also on hand will be a range of Scotch single malt and single grain whiskies that are normally available to the makers of Johnnie Walker as they create the blends. These include The Singleton, Talisker, Oban, Lagavulin and some of their Special Release malts.
