Ledaig 18 Year OldBurn Stewart Distillers, the Scottish company behind the recently released and very rare Ledaig Dusgadh 42 Year Old Scotch, are back again in the new whisky releases news with word of a pair of 18 year old expressions. They herald from the Deanston and Ledaig labels and price for around £80 ($125 USD) and £85 ($135 USD), respectively.
Both the Deanston 18 (46.3% ABV) and Ledaig 18 (46.3% ABV) are non-chill filtered, according to Burn Stewart Distillers. The Deanston is said to have initially been aged in hogshead casks before being finished in first fill Kentucky bourbon casks. It is noted for showcasing this distillery’s “signature profile of sweet, honeyed fruit with a deep, rich finish” and has “aromatic and balanced notes of American oak and hints of tobacco and nutmeg.”
The Ledaig 18 year old, meanwhile, is drawn from whisky created on the Isle of Mull at the Tobermory Distillery. This particular expression pays homage to that distillery’s roots, resulting in a “smoky island single malt Scotch whisky which balances sweet and floral aromas with the richness and warmth of sea salt and smoke.”

Both whiskies have planned releases in the United Kingdom, as well as across select international territories including Europe, North America and Asia.
