The Knockdhu Distillery in Scotland has released a new vintage dated single malt Scotch whisky. Known as anCnoc Vintage 2002, it is said to follow in the footsteps of the popular 2001 vintage release from last year, further showcasing the fact this distillery is one of a handful out there to vintage-date their whisky like wineries date wine.

anCnoc Vintage 2002, according to those behind it, was matured in hand selected Spanish and American oak casks for over 14 years in traditional dunnage warehouses. It has been bottled at 46% ABV and is neither chill-filtered or artificially colored. The packaging it comes in is said to mirror the minimalist design of their core range and features an illustration of the distillery in forest green.

Should you want to seek out a bottle, just 1,200 cases are being released globally, with each bottle pricing £65, or about $85 USD. You’ll find some official tasting notes below from the distillery.

“We’re really excited to release the 2002 vintage to anCnoc fans as it creates the perfect balance between the signature Knockdhu house style we’re so proud of whilst introducing new tastes into our portfolio,” said anCnoc brand manager Stephanie Allison in a prepared statement. “With the combined spicy notes and sweet flavours, we’re sure this spirit will satisfy even the most discerning whisky drinker looking to extend their collections.”

This mature expression is bright amber in appearance and bursting with notes of spicy Christmas cake, liquorice and toffee, closely followed by a spiced vanilla aroma and the citrusy finish anCnoc is known for. To taste, there is the sweetness of chocolate perfectly contrasted with orange zest and a hint of leather, leaving drinkers with a long warming finish.
