anCnoc-1975Fans of the anCnoc brand of single malt Scotch whisky from the Knockdhu distillery in Scotland’s Speyside region will want to take note of a new very limited edition expression just released that is said to be the oldest yet debuted from this operation. anCnoc 1975 Vintage is on the market now, heralding from just three old casks for a total of 1,590 bottles.

anCnoc 1975 Vintage, according to Knockdhu, was drawn from only three American oak and Spanish oak ex-sherry casks laid down in 1975. It was bottled late last year at a cask strength of 44.2% ABV and is non-chill filtered. It is being distributed to retail outlets in the UK, US, Russia and Canada for a price of around £300 ($460 USD), though this will vary depending upon the market somewhat. You can try to hunt down a bottle here.

Some official tasting notes from anCnoc are included below for your consideration.

Nose: Waves of spicy dried fruit and creamy vanilla sweetness are accentuated by orange peel, green apple freshness and just a hint of cut flowers.

Taste: Full-bodied, intense and complex. Fruit cake, sticky toffee and seasoned leather are followed by signature notes of honey and lemons.

Finish: A long, mouth-watering finish full of spice and sweetness.
