According to a press release, the whisky embodies the “soft, gentle” character of a classic Speyside single malt. The region, whose name refers to the Spey river, is home to more than a third of Scotland’s distilleries. The producer’s tasting notes are below:
Tasting Notes
- Colour: Golden shimmer.
- Nose: Zesty lemon, creamy vanilla fudge, subtle mint and jasmine blossom.
- Palate: A silky texture exuding barley sugar and hazelnut, livened with cinnamon, and concluding with malt biscuit and black pepper.
- Finish: Sweet, citrus fresh and silky smooth.
Established in 1868 and based on the west coast of Scotland, the A.D. Rattray is owned by Tim Morrison, formerly of Morrison Bowmore Distillers and a fourth-generation descendent of founder Andrew Dewar Rattray.
