It’s not often to see a bourbon made by women for women. Of course, everyone’s free to enjoy Lynxx Small Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey, but the producers had women on their mind with every step of the process. Lynxx is made to be luxurious, first-class and empowering for women everywhere.
Rachel Svoboda, founder, has worked in advertising for over 20 years, helping mostly women-owned businesses. Her vision for Lynxx was to build an extraordinary bourbon brand specifically for women. Informed by trending alcohol stats that show the growing popularity of whiskey among women drinkers, as well as female-centric focus groups, Lynxx developed a bourbon to help introduce new drinkers to the category. It helps that Lynxx has an all-female team as well, which means every aspect, from aging to bottling, has been influenced by women.
Lynxx Spirits also has an owner’s club that’s free to join for the first year. Being part of the club gives you discounts and access to a network of other women, plus it allows for your own brand to be eligible for partnerships. There’s also access to special events.
Tasting Notes: Lynxx Small Batch
Vital Stats: 80 proof. Aged two years. Distilled by Southern Distilling Company in Statesville, North Carolina, for Lynxx Spirits. Available in California and online at Lynxx Spirits. Shipping to 30 states (as of now). $80.
Appearance: The bottle looks like a large perfume bottle, with a nice crystal topper and white etched lettering underneath a fancy Lynxx diamond. It’s a showcase bottle for your home bar. The whiskey is old gold in color.
Nose: Bright and fresh. Green apple pie, lime, leather, and wheat make for a pleasant summer day aroma.
Palate: Thin and hot overall, with simple flavors. It’s spice-forward, then mellow like cooked grains with a briny finish. There’s burnt orange, cinnamon, and wheat, with a touch of honey and ginger. The finish felt a little flat and salty, rather than sweet like the nose.
