A Night On Earth In Jerez de la Frontera

The Macallan A Night On Earth In Jerez de la Frontera pays homage to the sherry-producing region of Spain that produces The Macallan’s sherry-seasoned oak casks. These casks impart a rich, fruity, and decadent sherry influence onto The Macallan’s Speyside whisky. In fact, the ‘Exceptional Oak Casks’ are one of The Macallan’s Six Pillars, which form the ethos of the brand.

Matured in a combination of European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks, the whisky evokes images of Spanish nights under the stars. In addition, the tasting notes of pastry, grapes, and anise pay tribute to the Spanish tradition of eating twelve grapes before midnight on New Year’s Eve as well as the traditional Pestiños pastry – a fried dough with sugar and aniseed or honey.

The perfect whisky to sip as we welcome 2025, A Night On Earth In Jerez de la Frontera “captures the essence of the season that marks the end of the year in southern Spain, a time for togetherness, reflection on what has passed, and a celebration of the future.”

In Collaboration With María Melero

Artist María Melero is native to Jerez and has used her memories of nights in her home to create a warm and striking packaging design for this new release.

The outer packaging captures a striking crimson sky and a vivid sunset over sherry vineyards, with roses that grow among the vines. Inside, a stunning display of traditional Jerez ‘azulejos’ – ornamental wall tiles – awaits. Each tile showcases icons that celebrate meaningful moments and symbols shared by The Macallan and Jerez, including casks, stills, oranges, and vine leaves.

Steven Bremner, Whisky Maker, commented: “Jerez plays a crucial role in The Macallan’s past, but also present and future. As a whisky maker, having been able to tell part of that story through a whisky has been wonderfully rewarding. A combination of European and American sherry seasoned casks has enabled us to capture the flavours, traditions and María’s memories of New Year in Jerez de la Frontera, the home of sherry wine.”
