New scotch whisky releases this week include a Pedro Ximénez matured single malt from Eden Mill, a stout cask finish from Lochlea, and an extremely rare 33 Year Old from Rosebank.
Let’s take a look at some of the notable scotch whisky releases in the market this week.
Eden Mill Pedro Ximénez Single Cask
Eden Mill, the independent distiller from St Andrews, has unveiled its first release in a series of rare single cask bottlings: an ex-Pedro Ximénez single malt. Aged for nearly nine years in a PX cask, this whisky showcases a deep, dark sherry hue, reflecting its rich maturation process. The flavor profile bursts with fig and raisin, underscored by oak and red berries, with a sweet, woody finish complemented by a dry European oak note.
Bottled at cask strength of 58.3% ABV, this release is limited to just 252 bottles, ensuring its exclusivity. Priced at £110, the whisky is available from November 21st via Eden Mill’s website and their shop in St Andrews.
Head Distiller Scott Ferguson describes it as a “dream dram” for fans of heavily sherried whiskies, perfect for enjoying by the fire during the festive season. This release is a celebration of Eden Mill’s craftsmanship ahead of their new distillery’s 2025 opening.
Lochlea Stout Cask Finish
Lochlea Distillery in Ayrshire has announced its first single malt matured in stout beer casks: Lochlea Stout Cask Finish. This UK-exclusive limited edition is the result of a collaboration with Glasgow-based craft brewery Overtone, beloved for its range of seasonal beers inspired by the culture of music and different musical genres.
The process began with Lochlea’s core expression, “Our Barley,” which is matured in a mix of ex-bourbon, STR, and oloroso sherry casks. These casks were then loaned to Overtone to age their double mash stout before being returned to Lochlea, seasoned with rich stout flavors.

The resulting whisky delivers a nose of all-butter shortbread, tropical fruit, and macadamia nuts, evolving into sweet toffee and toasted barley on the palate. The finish is long and satisfying, with notes of fruit and cereal. Bottled at 52% ABV and non-chill filtered, it highlights Lochlea’s innovative partnerships and bold experimentation.
Available from December 3rd, the Lochlea Stout Cask Finish is priced at £59.99 and can be purchased through specialist UK retailers. This release exemplifies the distillery’s commitment to crafting distinctive, locally inspired whiskies.
Rosebank 1990 33 Year Old
Rosebank Distillery has unveiled an ultra-rare single cask whisky, exclusively available for global travelers. Limited to just 107 bottles, it captures the essence of Rosebank, known as the “King of the Lowlands.”
The whisky boasts a vibrant nose with tropical fruits and blueberry muffins, followed by a sweet, silky palate with notes of cinnamon and chamomile, culminating in a warming oak finish. Bottled at 46.6% ABV, it is presented in a natural wood tube with intricate rose petal metalwork, emphasizing its exclusivity.
Priced at £5,500, the Rosebank 33 year old will be available from November 20th, 2024, at select international airports, including Edinburgh, London Heathrow, Glasgow, and Taipei, on a first-come, first-served basis. This release is a celebration of Rosebank’s unique triple distillation and worm tub condensers, highlighting its historic craftsmanship and recent revival.
