Blue Note Bourbon, the Memphis-based brand that honors blues music, has announced a limited edition Honey Bourbon Cask.

Distilled from a mash bill comprising 70% corn, 21& rye, and 9% malted barley, the whiskey was initially matured in new American oak barrels. Another set of American oak barrels, initially used for finishing, was used to produce barrel-aged honey. Then, the whiskey was filled into these barrels for a three-year finishing period.

The resulting bourbon (57.85% ABV) has notes of vanilla, cedar, and nut on the nose. The palate presents notes of leather, pear, cedar, wildflower, and honey, which lead to a gentle and warming finish.

Blye Note Honey Bourbon Cask is available for a limited time in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas. The expression can also be purchased online via BlueNoteBourbon.com and Seelbachs.com. The suggested retail price is $64.99.

Log Still Distillery has expanded its portfolio with the launch of Monk’s Road Rye Whiskey. The whiskey is distilled from Kentucky-grown Heritage rye grown on the distillery’s farmland. According to a brand press release, “It’s a whiskey that brings the story of Kentucky agriculture straight to your glass.”

Bottled at 100 proof, the rye strikes a balance between the boldness and spiciness that we expect from a rye whiskey, and a smooth drinking experience, carrying notes of caramel and oak.

“Monk’s Road Rye is more than just a whiskey – it’s a reflection of the land we work and the people who make it all possible,” said Wally Dant, President and Distiller at Log Still Distillery. “We’re proud to grow the very rye that goes into every bottle right here on our campus, and we can’t wait for folks to experience the authentic Kentucky character it offers.”

Monk’s Road Rye Whiskey will hit shelves at the end of October in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, and Texas. The SRP is $46.99.

Wheel Horse Whiskey has announced the annual release of its iconic Cigar Blend Bourbon.

Initially aged in new charred oak, this year’s release was finished in four different cask types: port, cognac, sherry, and Armagnac casks. The whiskey is also slightly older than the 2023 release, aged between four and five years.

Bottled at 101 proof, only 4,500 bottles have been produced. Tasting notes for the bourbon include “brandied cherries and pipe tobacco” on the nose. On the palate “lively flavors of candied lemon peel and honey are at the fore before revealing dark fruit notes of fig and plum with a touch of maple syrup.” The finish is toffee, cherry pie, and leather.

Now available via the Wheel Horse Whiskey website, the whiskey has an SRP of $37.99.

Baker’s High Rye Bourbon

Baker’s Bourbon, the namesake brand of Jim Beam’s grand-nephew, Baker Beam, has announced the release of Baker’s High Rye Bourbon.

This expression celebrates Baker’s trucking business, which he used to deliver grains to the James B. Beam Distilling Co. This work allowed him to develop a deep understanding of how grains influence whiskey. As such, this high rye bourbon contains double the amount of rye found in the flagship Baker’s Bourbon expression.

Bottled at a minimum of seven years old and 107 proof, the whiskey carries notes of “charred oak, brown sweets, and a subtle rye spice” on the palate. Prior to this, the nose has charred oak, vanilla, caramel, and dried fruits.

The Baker’s Bourbon High Rye is available now with an SRP of $74.99.

Bottled at 86 proof, the whiskey is available exclusively on Flaviar and Caskers for an RRP of $52.99. $5 from each purchase will go to No-Shave November, which raises funds and awareness for men’s mental and physical health issues such as prostate cancer.

Drinkers can expect aromas of “black walnut, leather, and hints of tobacco followed by “chocolate and vanilla leading to a balanced creamy caramel and oak finish”.

2BAR Spirits, a Seattle-based grain-to-glass distillery, has announced the release of a six-year-old single barrel bourbon. Founder, Nathan Kaiser as well as Head Distiller Maddie Kelly spoke about the new expression.

“The 2BAR brand has stood for quality, independence, and hard work for more than a century, and we bring those same values from our family ranch to 2BAR Spirits,” said 2BAR Spirits Founder Nathan Kaiser. “We’re thrilled to introduce our longest-aged whiskey ever released. Aged for six years in a 30-gallon charred new American white oak barrel, the extended maturation in our newest release allowed the whiskey to develop a truly unique character, as the oak imparted depth and sophistication to the already complex grain bill of all 2BAR Bourbon. The result is a stunning richness in both color and flavor.”

“On the nose, enticing aromas of maple, vanilla, and toasted oak invite sippers to savor what lies ahead,” said 2BAR Spirits Head Distiller Maddie Kelly. “Not for the faint of heart, this single barrel release, bottled at a barrel strength of 128 Proof (64 ABV), offers a symphony of flavors. Expect a vibrant palate featuring notes of vanilla and oak, which gracefully transition into a complex savory finish, revealing hints of dried cherry and undertones of chocolate.

“This Bourbon is crafted to intrigue and satisfy whiskey enthusiasts, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a thoughtfully layered experience to ponder and enjoy,” said Kaiser.

Bottled from barrel #991 the 2BAR 6 Year Single Barrel is available for an RRP of $88
