Glengoyne Distillery, a scotch whisky distillery nestled just south of Loch Lomond, has announced the release of a very rare 38 Year Old single cask expression. This new release is the second installment in the Russell Family Cask trilogy, which celebrates the three generations who have watched over Glengoyne.

Only 241 bottles have been produced and are now available for an RRP of £4,000 (56.8% ABV). For more information, visit the Glengoyne website.

Glengoyne 38 Year Old Russell Family Single Cask

The Glengoyne 38 Year Old Russell Family Single Cask, matured for almost four decades, calls back to Sunday lunches at Peter Russell’s house where his son, Leonard, would present some Glengoyne single cask samples to try along with Leonard’s son, Tom.

This single cask expression, #915, stood out from the rest and was chosen to bottle due to its rich, layered profile.

Matured for 38 years in a first-fill American oak sherry cask, the 38 Year Old is an exceptional example of the sherry cask maturation that Glengoyne has become known for.

Tom Russell, Head of International Business Development and 4th generation of the Russell Family, said: “We are first and foremost a family business, and growing up for me was full of family dinners with conversation flowing, quick wit and healthy debates and The Russell Cask Trilogy brings this to life.

“The 38 year old is a remarkable dram, and we had no doubt that we needed to bottle it. The series is a special part of our past, but releasing it is raising a glass to our future and continuing to create exceptional whisky from one of the most environmentally friendly distilleries in Scotland.”
