The result is a whiskey with a light, floral, and fruity profile with “hints of gentle toasted oak and soft spice on the nose, and warm vanilla with sensational caramelized pear richness on the palate.”
Bushmills’ Master Blender, Alex Thomas, commented: “We’ve approached this 15 Year Old in a really experimental way, using whiskey aged only in bourbon barrels to give a wonderful vanilla sweetness. Then we’ve layered on complex fruity notes from the finest oak casks sourced from the ancient forests of central France and used to age rare cognac by a small family-run cognac maker.”
She continues: “For several years, the cognac soaks deep into the fine-grain of these luxurious casks before they’re ready to be emptied and sent to us at the Old Bushmills Distillery. It’s a lavish and really exciting process!”
About Bushmills Irish Whiskey

Bushmills Irish Whiskey, one of the world’s oldest distilleries, traces its roots back to 1608, when Sir Thomas Phillips was granted a license to distill in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The Bushmills Old Distillery, established in 1784, has continuously produced whiskey, earning a reputation for quality and craftsmanship.
The distillery’s signature style, characterized by a triple distillation process, results in a smooth, light whiskey, a distinct feature of Irish whiskey. Despite facing numerous challenges, including Prohibition in the United States and periods of economic hardship, the brand has remained resilient. In 2005, Diageo acquired the distillery, further bolstering its global presence.
Today, the Bushmills Irish Whiskey range includes whiskeys such as Bushmills Black Bush, a 10 Year Old, and a 16 Year Old. The brand also produces limited edition cask finish expressions as well as high-age single malts.
