Wendy’s Has A New Bourbon Bacon Cheeseburger You May Want To Check Out

Fast food chain Wendy’s recently kicked off National Hamburger Month with its new Bourbon Bacon Cheeseburger. The cheeseburger is the new addition to the brand’s “Made to Crave” sandwich lineup and contains what’s described as a custom sweet but savory bourbon bacon sauce (the bourbon in the blend was not mentioned, and the burger contains less than 2%) as well as American cheese, crispy bacon, crunchy onions and a premium toasted bun.

“Following the success of our Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger and Jalapeno Popper Chicken Sandwiches on the Made to Crave platform, we wanted to go back to our roots and give our fans more of what they’re always craving: a quality, juicy bacon cheeseburger,” Chief Marketing Officer for The Wendy’s Company Carl Loredo said in a prepared statement. “Wendy’s is always looking ahead to the next big thing and this burger pays homage to two classic American icons – cheeseburgers and bourbon.”

Wendy’s, for those that don’t know a lot about the brand, was founded in 1969 by Dave Thomas in Columbus, Ohio. Today, Wendy’s and its franchisees employ hundreds of thousands of people across more than 6,800 restaurants worldwide.

“Wendy’s is the home of the number one bacon cheeseburger for a reason: our beef is always fresh, never frozen and our Applewood smoked bacon is cooked in an oven daily to bring the Wendy’s signature quality and flavor that we feel is a cut above the competition,” Vice President of Culinary Innovation for The Wendy’s Company John Li said.

The new Bourbon Bacon Cheeseburger is available for $5.39 via Wendy’s drive-thru, contactless pickup via mobile order or through delivery with Postmates, DoorDash, Grubhub and Uber Eats. It should be noted as well it is not easy on the waistline, sporting 710 calories, 41 grams of total fat and 1,400 mg of sodium. That being said, pairing it with an entry level bourbon for dinner might make for a fascinating meal.
