“Gravity” Bong Maker Stündenglass Enters Cocktail Smoke Infusing

Stündenglass describes itself as a “glass gravity infuser” with rather unique design and usage considerations. Despite this labeling, it has been seen in some corners as a “gravity bong,” getting a particular shoutout a few years back from Seth Rogen in a video showing him smoking from it. Now the company behind it has announced a new cocktail smoking add-on known as the Gravity Beverage Infuser.

The Stündenglass Gravity Beverage Infuser, according to those behind it, makes use of a high quality glass cloche and extra fine wood chips to infuse cooled smoke into cocktails. Featuring what’s described as “a patented 360 degree gravity system,” one places drinks under the cloche and fills the Stündenglass’ chamber with wood chips, spices or herbs. One then lights the material and spins the top globe to begin pulling smoke into the Stündenglass. It is rotated again and cool, water-filtered smoke fills the cloche, adding what’s said to be depth of flavor to drinks.

“We are excited to introduce our esteemed line of infusers to the mixology world,” said Chris Fokertrs, CEO of Stündenglass, in a prepared statement. “The Beverage Infuser is a game changing addition for any enthusiast, delivering a superior on-demand experience at your home or local bar.”

Here are some more official details on the Infuser from Stündenglass:

  • Industrial grade, food safe material
  • Aircraft grade, anodized aluminum finishing
  • Built-in percolation system delivers water-filtered, cooled smoke
  • Easy loading professional-capacity burn chamber for longer and multiple infusions
  • Easy maintenance and simple to clean
  • Removable glass globes

Stündenglass itself retails for around $600, with the Gravity Beverage Infuser add-on dropping in at around $150. The latter arrives in a reusable craft box with a handle, allowing for safe storage and transportation. Wood chips are also available in Apple, Oak, Pecan and Hickory, pricing for around $10.

Stündenglass, for those unfamiliar with the company, was “established in 2012 by Tracey Huston, a self taught inventor, Stündenglass provides the most powerful and efficient smoke filtration experience without a battery or motor, using simply pure fluid physics.”
