5 Whiskey BBQ Sauces To Spice Up Your Meat With

Whiskey and BBQ. A culinary match made like few others can be. Steak, chicken, fish – you name it, if it is meat it can go well with about any type of whiskey out there. Bourbon in particular is a favorite pairing choice, alongside good Tennessee whiskey as well. Given this, it is not surprising to see some of America’s more popular whiskey brands lending their name and brown spirit to BBQ sauces for your use with your meats.

We’ve included in this shopping guide five choices for mainstream American whiskey BBQ sauces, including the likes of Jack Daniel’s. It should be noted for all of these the liquor levels are super, super low, so don’t expect to get buzzed off of any of these sauces. The addition of a bourbon into these mixes, instead, is designed to subtly give you a bit of additional flavor into the overall ingredient combination.

As for how to apply these sauces, treat them pretty much like any other BBQ saucing techniques you enjoy the most, such as dipping, drowning or marinating. I prefer the latter myself the most, typically taking a sauce like this and pouring it over a meat I plan to barbecue. I put both meat and sauce into an airtight container, give it a good shake to cover the meat in and let it rest over night in the refrigerator before throwing it onto the grill.
