Meet The Bottler
WhiskyUA is a charity project that creates themed whisky releases. We direct all profits from their sale to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The idea emerged in March 2022, during the first month of russia’s full-scale invasion. At the time, people often said that everyone should help Ukraine in whatever way they could. We had already been independently bottling Scotch whisky for Ukrainian whisky enthusiasts for years, so we decided to put that experience to use: create themed releases, raise funds for the Armed Forces, and tell the international whisky community about russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
As of September 2026, we have donated more than 179,000 EUR.

- What's in the Bottle
Would you describe your approach as flavor-led, age-led, or consistency-led, and how does that dictate your selection or blending process?
We select whisky and empty casks, then finish the whisky in those casks, carefully monitoring the process and tasting it regularly to follow how its flavour develops. Since 2024, we have also been preparing small casks ourselves before filling them with whisky. We aim to create flavourful releases for the wider community of whisky enthusiasts.
- Wood & Maturation
What is your cask buying strategy? Do you buy mature casks ready for bottling, or do you buy “new-make” spirit and manage the wood and aging yourselves?
Creating a whisky release is a bit like cooking a dish: to make it taste good, you first need to choose the right ingredients.
We carefully select the whisky, tasting dozens of samples before making a final decision. Then we find the right cask for finishing. This also takes care and attention to detail: the market is full of so-called ex-wine casks. Sometimes the aroma inside an empty cask tells you more than its specifications on paper. :)

What makes your brand stand out in an increasingly crowded and competitive independent bottling landscape?
The aim of our releases is to raise funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For those who want to help, each bottle offers a chance to donate and keep a small piece of Ukrainian history for memory.

If you could put just one bottle from your current or upcoming lineup into a drinker’s hands to explain your brand’s mission, which one would it be and why?
Each of our releases is dedicated to a theme from Ukraine’s history or culture, including events in its resistance to russia. For example, we have releases dedicated to Ukraine’s 2023 counteroffensive, the Ukrainian song Shchedryk (known around the world as Carol of the Bells), Ukrainian operation on russian territory – “Spiderweb”, and many other chapters of our ukrainian history.
Why We Built This Directory
Every listing in The Whiskey Wash directory of independent bottlers is free and non-commercial. No bottler pays to be included, and nobody can pay for a better spot.
We built it because we love whisky, and independent bottlers are some of the most interesting people in it. They find the casks distilleries never release themselves, take chances on unusual finishes and keep the names of lost distilleries on the shelf.
Nothing like it has existed since ScotchWhisky.com closed. This is our attempt to fill that gap and introduce drinkers to the people behind the casks.
