Sometimes you just have to be on site to get the good stuff. That’s the case anyhow at the Heaven Hill Distilleries Bourbon Heritage Center, where it was recently unveiled that a third edition of its William Heavenhill bourbon had gone on sale in limited numbers that equal out roughly from what I’ve been told of what you would get from three barrels.The maker of popular American whiskey brands such as Elijah Craig and Evan William, Heaven Hill Distilleries out of Kentucky was formed in 1934 and bills itself as America’s largest independent, family-owned and operated distilled spirits company. Its Bourbon Heritage Center, located in Bardstown, is where one can experience its bourbons and also purchase one off exclusive offerings, such as the Heavenhill expression that is said to be Bottled in Bond this time around.
Aged for 11 years and bottled at 50 percent ABV, William Heavenhill is named after a 19th century pioneer and distiller who once owned the land the distillery sits on. It prices for around $130 at the Heritage Center, which is a bargain when you consider that previous versions have priced for as much as $500 a bottle.
