Blackland Distillery, out of Fort Worth, Texas, officially launched its flagship bourbon, Prairie Gold, today.

A recent statement from the whiskey maker noted that this bourbon is aged a minimum of three years in new oak American barrels and it’s cooked, fermented, and distilled on-site using 100% Texas grains from Texas farmers.

The distiller explained that Prairie Gold is made from a mash bill of 80% yellow corn and 20% triticale, a wheat and rye hybrid. The whiskey itself clocks in at 50% ABV.

“Prairie Gold is a bourbon that truly embodies the essence of the Lone Star State,” said Markus Kypreos, owner and founder of Blackland Distillery. “By only using locally sourced grains and our cutting-edge distilling methods, we’ve crafted an unparalleled spirit that stands out from the crowd.”

Prairie Gold will be for sale exclusively in Blackland’s tasting room for $100 , then roll out to liquor stores shortly after.

Kypreos noted that Prairie Gold will join Blackland’s product portfolio of vodka, gin, bourbon, rye whiskey, and their Texas Pecan Brown Sugar Bourbon.

“It’s been a long journey to get to this moment,” he said. “It was important for us to elevate the quality and expectation surrounding Texas straight bourbon. The passion, patience, and painstaking attention to detail that went into the making of this spirit is evident in every sip.”
