Jefferson's Reserve Groth Reserve Cask Finish Those behind the Jefferson’s Reserve bourbons have been busy so far in 2015 with new bottlings, including a “Manhattan” barrel finished cocktail and the third edition of their ocean aged whiskey. This march now continues with the quiet debut of a new bourbon that’s been finished in special cabernet sauvignon barrels.

The new Jefferson’s Reserve Groth Reserve Cask Finish is said to have first been aged in new American oak for six years. From there it was then finished in Groth Cabernet Sauvignon barrels for a further nine months. Groth is a well respected winery out of California’s Napa Valley, and its cab in particular is considered an awesome wine in its grape varietal category, which is thus likely why those behind Jefferson’s turned to them to get hold of the wine casks for this special release.

This bourbon, said to be limited in nature, is pricing around $80 a bottle and is already popping up in small numbers in California liquor stores (some of them are selling the bottles for sale online as well). The Groth finished whiskey is clocking in at 90.2 proof.
