Booker’s Bourbon Toogie’s Invitation A 129 Proof Monster

Booker's Bourbon Toogie's InvitationBooker’s Bourbon, as we’ve witnessed here since we began tracking most of its batch releases near the end of 2013, is a monster of an uncut whiskey. It typically proofs in the upper 120s, which is definitely not for the faint of heart beginning bourbon drinker. The latest batch just unveiled, Booker’s Bourbon Toogie’s Invitation, is very easily one of the highest proofed ever, clocking in at a eye watering 129 proof.

Now, while you are considering how you’ll be able to get past the burn 129 proof will smackdown upon you when you sip it, here’s some other stuff to know about this Booker’s batch. It is the third to be put into the Booker’s line up this year, following Booker’s Bluegrass (127.9 proof) and Annis’ Answer (126.7 proof). Toogie’s Invitation, which was selected by Booker’s Roundtable and Toogie herself, is named this, according to Beam master distiller Fred Noe, in honor

of Marilyn “Toogie” Dick and her longstanding friendship with my parents, Booker and Annis Noe. With a bond that goes back to their high school days, Toogie has been part of the family since before I can remember and, when Dad first introduced Booker’s Bourbon, Toogie had a standing invitation to gather at our kitchen table, along with friends and family, and select batches of Dad’s namesake bourbon.

Later in life, Toogie joined Dad and Mom all over the world during their travels, and she could always be found making Dad’s favorite meal, her famous fried chicken, for him and any guests that he invited to dinner after a long day at the distillery.

Booker’s Bourbon Toogie’s Invitation is aged six years, six months and four days and was pulled from barrels located in six different rack houses. It is pricing for around $60, and official tasting notes for it are below.
