It is a battle any true craft whiskey lover can appreciate. Pacific Northwest vs New England. Pride of the distillery on the line, plus a case of good locally produced single malts and some other swag. What am I talking about? A betting match between two of these American regions’ best craft whiskey makers over who will win the upcoming Super Bowl this Sunday.

It all started out a few days back when Rhode Island based Sons of Liberty, known for its Battle Cry single malt whiskey, posted a video challenge online against Seattle, Washington based Westland Distillery. In it Sons of Liberty called out its west coast rival and claimed football victory would go to the New England Patriots:

Westland, known in turn for its single malts, of course had to respond, and did so in a very hilarious fashion in the below video a few days later:

Now, from this blogger’s perspective, I have to give the nod of creativity towards Westland and, since I’m out of Portland, Oregon, I also place my bet on the Seahawks repeating as Super Bowl champs. Regardless of who wins though it is really fun to see such a pre-game craft whiskey rivalry at play.
