Heaven Hill, who is behind the Parker’s Heritage offerings, is, like other bourbon makers, not known for doing malt style releases, so it should make it rather interesting to see how this upcoming whiskey plays out. Rumors have been floating around for a bit online about what the most recent release would entail, and now that the federal TTB liquor bottle approval label has surfaced, it looks as if the malt whiskey rumors are true.
According to the approved label, this is an eight year old whiskey that’s been bottled at 108 proof and consists of a mash bill that’s 65% malted barley and 35% corn. It is said on this label that “select barrels of this limited run were allowed to age eight full years on the 5th and 7th floors of Rickhouse Y in Bardstown.”

The Parker’s Heritage 9th Edition Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey was bottled without chill filtration. As with other whiskies in this release, a contribution of $5 will be made for each bottle sold to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also called ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease) research and treatment in honor of Heaven Hill Master Distiller Emeritus Parker Beam, who was diagnosed with ALS a few years back.
