Even though I have seen most of the films, I am admittedly not all that up on the Harry Potter universe, particularly when it comes to the live action experiences you can have at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida. A new whiskey with tie-ins to the movie has apparently surfaced there though in the last week, and has those who follow this world quite excited.

READ THE STORYThe theme park fan site Behind the Thrills recently took note Warner Bros. Entertainment had filed some trademarks which are connected to Blishen’s Fire Whisky, a cinnamon flavored whiskey explained as being “a weaker variant of firewhisky, as normal firewhisky cannot be safely consumed by Muggles, whereas this brand can.” Again, I know little of the Harry Potter fan base, but word from those who are fans is that it is actually a real drink you can now consume glasses of at “both Hog’s Head Pub (Hogsmeade) and the Leaky Cauldron (Diagon Alley)” when you visit the theme park.
Taking a look behind the scenes of this new beverage, one notes the trademark most specifically tied to this whisky seems to describe it as “the King of Whiskies Blishen’s Fire Cinnamon Flavoured Whisky Handcrafted 35% Alc. By Vol. (70 Proof) 750 ML.” There’s no mention of who is actually distilling this product for Warner Bros. in the trademark filing, but since it had to go through the liquor label approval process like other whiskies here in the US, a search of the TTB database reveals a filing from last year indicating it to likely be handled by Terrepure Spirits out of South Carolina.

Terrepure (or Terressentia), for those unfamiliar with them, processes private label and bulk spirits “for retailers and brand owners.” You can see a more complete list of some of the whiskey brands they work with here. This level of detail won’t likely matter to Harry Potter fans, but for whiskey drinkers who are curious, that’s likely a different story. If Terrepure is the one who handled it, it isn’t clear if the whiskey was actually distilled by them or purchased from somewhere else (likely the latter).
There was also no mention at this point of whether or not Blishen’s Fire Whisky would be made available by the bottle for purchase, but I bet if it were it would be an instant cult hit among Harry Potter lovers.
