Clyde May’s Whiskey recently announced the release of its 9-Year-Old Cask Strength Straight Rye Whiskey.
In a prepared statement from the whiskey maker, the distiller noted that this expression aged a minimum of nine years in ex-bourbon barrels. Clocking in at 113 proof, the Cask Strength Straight Rye Whiskey comes from a mash bill that’s 91% rye.

The distiller’s notes show the whiskey to have a rye spiciness with notes of oak, coffee beans and vanilla flavors.

For this limited release, the distiller noted, they’ve applied a special wood-finishing technique, steeping a mixture of American oak, cherry wood and French oak wood chips into the whiskey for four additional months.

The additional wood finishing seeks to bring a medley of flavor with distinct notes of fruit, caramel and vanilla to the whiskey.

“At Conecuh Brands, we love to innovate, and this unique wood-finishing technique is an example of doing just that,” said Phil West, Conecuh’s vice president of marketing. “This one-time bottling honors Clyde May’s legacy and represents the craftsmanship and excellence found in all our offerings.”

The 9-Year-Old Cask Strength Straight Rye is now available at select retailers, and has a suggested retail price of $64.99 for a 750ml bottle.
