Andalusia Whiskey Co. recently released what’s described as a “long awaited collaboration” whiskey with Maui Brewing Co. and is donating $50 of every bottle sold to the Maui Wildfire Relief efforts.
This is a single barrel limited release they crafted in collaboration with Garrett Marrero, founder of Maui Brewing Co. During a 2020 visit he brewed a batch of his brewery’s Coconut Hiwa Porter and a week later it was distilled into a whiskey.
“The collaboration came about as we are old friends with the Maui brewing folks from our craft brewing days. We have visited the brewery in Maui on several occasions.” said Ty Phelps, Co-Found of Andalusia Whiskey Co., in a prepared statement.”After completing the brew and whiskey aging over three years ago, we’ve been waiting for the right moment to release it.
“After the devastating fires, in Lahaina the time was right to release the whiskey and have it benefit victims of the wildfire.”
The whiskey was aged in a new, charred oak 53 gallon barrel for three and a half years. Bottled at 100 proof , it has what’s described as “notes of malt, chocolate milkshake, Tootsie Rolls, vanilla, and caramel.”
Bottles are $80.00 and available at the distillery only, located in Blanco, Texas. Per state regulations, whiskey cannot be shipped and consumers are allowed to pick up four bottles (750 ml bottles) per person per 30 days.
