David Anderson, Owner, Canvas Host

david-whiskey-washDavid is owner of Canvas Host, a Portland-based domain registrar, website host, and WordPress service provider. His interest in whiskey and spirits extends back to the early days of online publishing as the webmaster for

Over the years, David has been involved in multiple online ventures in the alcohol industry, including, which he built entirely in-house and to this day maintains as a leading, independent resource for the Oregon wine industry.

Canvas Host has a commitment to environmental responsibility and corporate leadership that is echoed in the company’s sustainability program as well as participation in renewable energy programs, associations and affiliations.

Alex Bruce, Managing Director, Adelphi Distillery Ltd

Alex Bruce photoAlex Bruce is Managing Director of Adelphi Distillery Ltd and the Ardnamurchan Distillery. He has been involved in the Wine & Spirits Industry since 1996, heading up Adelphi since 2004. He is a direct descendant of Andrew Usher, who is credited which producing the first ever blended Scotch whisky in the 1850’s, Ushers OVG.

He is a Keeper of the Quaich, a member of the Worshipful Company of Distillers, and an honorary member of the Whisky Guild of New Zealand. He also sits on the board of directors for Scotland Food and Drink, Scotland’s Industry Leading Group for the sector.

He is a passionate advocate of absolute quality, provenance and traceability in food and drink, and promotes a sustainable approach to distilling using renewable heat and power, and provision of by-products for local farming.

Lew Bryson, Whiskey Author, Former Managing Editor of Whisky Advocate

Lew BrysonLew Bryson has been writing about beer and spirits full-time since 1995. He was the managing editor of Whisky Advocate from 1996 through 2015, writing a regular column on American whiskey, reviewing craft, Canadian, and American whiskeys, and a frequent feature writer.

Bryson is the author of Tasting Whiskey (Storey Publishing, 2014), a broad survey of the whiskeys of the world, their history and manufacture. He has also written four regional brewery guidebooks from Stackpole Books: Pennsylvania Breweries (4 editions); New York Breweries;Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Breweries; and New Jersey Breweries (with Mark Haynie).

He was selected as the 2008 winner of the Michael Jackson Beer Journalism Award (Trade and Specialty Beer Media). He has served as a judge on the Professional Blind Tasting Panel at the Great American Beer Festival.

Lew Bryson lives north of Philadelphia with his wife and two Welsh Corgis.

Lisa Donoughe, Founder and Principal, Watershed Communications 

LisaDBlessed with a super sensitive nose and a particularly pertinent palate, Lisa Donoughe found her way into the food and drink world relatively quickly. Once she was there, she demonstrated that she is indeed one of those rare creatures who is both creative thinker and implementer.

Before she landed in Portland, Lisa started shaping some of the biggest names from her big agency perch of New York City. Big brands? There were plenty, Lisa developed national PR campaigns for Wild Turkey Bourbon, Bombay Sapphire, Stolichnaya Vodka, San Pellegrino, and Campari, to name a few. Lisa loves working with brands that excite her palate and have inspiring stories to tell.

Lisa is happiest spring-boarding America’s great food and drink minds, quality ingredients, poignant places and ingenious products with a conscience that define our culture. Joining the advisory board of The Whiskey Wash was a natural progression, combining her editorial knowhow, keen palate, and love of whiskey to lend her insight and expertise to a great publication.

Jordan Felix, Spirits Curator, Multnomah Whiskey Library

jordan-felixJordan Felix has managed bars across the world from Melbourne, Australia (his hometown) to New York City. Before starting with the project that is the Multnomah Whisk{e}y Library, Jordan worked at Clyde Common for two and half years with Jeffrey Morgenthaler. In 2015, Jordan became both a Kentucky Colonel and was named a Best New Mixologist by Food & Wine. Integral to the identity of the Multnomah Whisk(e)y Library, Jordan acts as the Spirits Curator and Educator.

Jordan is a keen swimmer, lover of a good Sidecar and amateur writer on all things whisk{e}y.


Lance Mayhew, Experienced Wine & Spirits Educator & Consultant

lance-mayhewLance Mayhew brings over 20 years experience in the world of cocktails and spirits to the table. Lance has served in a diverse number of roles, from journalist, to bar manager to culinary instructor and now works for Diageo..Lance Mayhew is the former contributing writer for on whisky and professional bartending and is an experienced journalist, contributing to publications such as Mutineer Magazine,Tasting Panel Magazine and Imbibe Magazine Lance has appeared as a guest speaker at a number of culinary festivals and trade shows including the Craft Beverage Expo and the Las Vegas Nightclub and Bar Show bringing his knowledge and insight of the world of wine and spirits to people around the country.

His original cocktails have been featured in publications including MIX Magazine, Imbibe Magazine, and Left Coast Libations; and he’s discussed bartending and mixology for publications including the The NY Times, MIX, and The Oregonian. In 2008, the Beverage Network named him one of America’s “Ten Trendsetting Mixologists”. Lance was also a former wine, spirits and mixology instructor at Oregon Culinary Institute.

Lance is certified by the Society of Wine Educators as a Certified Specialist of Spirits and and Certified Specialist of Wine.

Stuart Ramsay – Whisky Author, Certified Specialist of Spirits

stuart-rBorn and raised in the Highlands of Scotland, Stuart Ramsay currently lives in Portland, Oregon. Writer, brewer and public speaker, he is a leading expert on spirits and craft beer. He was the American correspondent and contributing editor for Britain’s Whisky Magazine, craft beer columnist for the Portland Oregonian and editor-in-chief of Sláinte, the Journal of the Classic Malts Society. His most recent book project was contributing editor for The Definitive World Guide to Whisky, published by Britain’s Dorling Kindersley. Ramsay wrote the American and Canadian chapters for this award-winning book. The book’s awards include a prestigious James Beard Award for best spirits & wine publication, and “Best Spirits Book” in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, France.

Ramsay is a Life Member of the prestigious Keepers of the Quaich Society, an international organization which honors those who have contributed greatly to the success and nobility of Scotch whisky and Scotland. Ramsay has also been inducted into the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels for his writing about Kentucky Bourbon and Kentucky. A Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS), he’s been a judge at Whisky Magazine’s Best of the Best Whisky Awards, held annually in Bardstown, Kentucky.

Last year, Ramsay launched WhiskyBack, a family of craft beers designed to pair with different whisky categories. WhiskyBack is on tap in Portland’s best bars and restaurants, enhancing and celebrating  fine whiskies.
