New 1792 Single Barrel Bourbon the Latest From Barton

1792 Single BarrelKentucky’s Barton 1792 Distillery, owned by spirits giant Sazerac, has been busy over the last year building out a series of premium whiskies to extend its lineup beyond its core bourbon. So far, we’ve seen sweet wheat and port cask finished variants. Now, word is there’s a limited edition, single barrel bourbon set to come to market.

The new 1792 Single Barrel Bourbon, according to those behind it, was bottled at 98.6 proof “on a small hand bottling line that only allows one barrel to be processed at a time.” The barrels for this release were selected from a range tasted at the distillery’s aging warehouses.

This single barrel expression, priced around $40, will come to retail by the end of this month. It should be available in most states, and the distillery expects it to sell out in short order.

“The flavors of butterscotch and caramel notes, delicately balanced with hints of fruit and toffee,” said master distiller Ken Pierce of the taste profile in a statement. “The body is rich and lingers on the tongue for a delicate and pleasant finish.”

Beyond Single Barrel, Barton indicated it plans “to release even more new and different 1792 expressions throughout the year.”
