Tomatin Distillery In Scotland Adds A Cask Strength Scotch To Line Up

tomatin-caskScotland’s Tomatin distillery has its first permanent cask strength bottling on its hands for fans of its style of single malt Scotch, it was recently announced. This release, 15,000 bottles strong, is clocking in at a nice 57.5% ABV, or 115 proof.

The Tomatin Cask Strength Edition, heralding from a distillery set in the Highlands region of Scotland, is a non-age statement release matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks. It was non-chill filtered and has no added colors.

Tasting notes for this release, pricing around £45 ($70 USD), are available below courtesy of Tomatin. If you want a bottle of it, and you are from the US, you’ll need to look overseas to get it shipped here as there are no current plans to distribute it here.

Aroma: Golden syrup. Orange and lemon. Pears. Walnuts.Ginger biscuits. Gets sweeter with time.
Palate: Marzipan, burnt sugar. Toasted malt loaf. Chestnuts.Polished leather. Vanilla flavoured tobacco.
Finish: Dry, with a developing spiciness.
