Another Craft Whiskey, This Time A Single Malt, Emerges Out Of Texas

Yes, indeed, there is a craft whiskey revolution going on in Texas. The Lone Star State has been rocking the locally made whiskies of late, first with yesterday’s aged expression from Rio Brazos and now word out of a Dallas suburb of a new single malt from Dallas Distilleries under its Herman Marshall label.

The new Herman Marshall Texas Whiskey loosely falls into a developing “Texas single malt” category already anchored by Swift Distillery and the legendary Balcones. Dallas Distilleries hasn’t had a lot to say about this whiskey online, noting only it is a small batch offering “patiently aged in new white oak barrels” that, according to at least one retailer, has a mash bill made up of 100% barley.

This Texas Whiskey 750 ml bottling, clocking in at 46% ABV, seems to be for sale online in at least two places right now, with a price between $55 and $60. Those behind it look to be distilling in house, and already have a well regarded bourbon and rye out on the market.
