Angel’s Envy 2014 Cask Strength Bourbon Bottling Ships To Retail

angel2014One of the more coveted bourbon releases each year comes from Angel’s Envy out of Kentucky. It is a rare cask strength expression of their general bourbon, and this month only 6,500 bottles are being sent into select markets around the United States.

Those behind Angel’s Envy said the Cask Strength bottling, which prices around $169, comes in a 750 ml container. It sits in this bottle at a rather slick 119.3 proof, creating a bourbon that is described as being “remarkably complex.” It gets this way by being aged up to seven years in select American white oak barrels before being blended into a single batch and matured a little more in special port casks.

Should you aim to seek a bottle of the Angel’s Envy Cask Strength out, states that it is set to pop up in include CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MI, NJ, NY, OR, TN, TX, WA. You’ll have to scramble to find one likely, as previous incarnations of this release have quickly sold out. Tasting notes for this deep amber red tint colored bourbon are below per the distillery.

Nose: Toffee, Butterscotch, Toasted Oak, Cherries, Ripe Peach, Berry Jam, Vanilla, notes of banana

Palate: Lots of port notes: Cherries, Oak, raisins. Still get a beautiful bourbon feel with Vanilla, Honey, a butter velvet feel, a little bit of clove spice, honeysuckle

Finish/Feel: Glides around your palate, lingers for a few moments, but not too long as to keep you from another sip. Add some water and it opens nicely. Warm and sweet, but still tingly
