The Macallan Debuts One Of A Kind Lalique Legacy Collection For Charity Auction

The Macallan in Lalique bottlings are extremely high end and rare 50- to 65-year-old Scotch single malts we’ve covered at one time or another over our writing history. The last of these expressions, the 65-year-old Macallan in Lalique Peerless Spirit, debuted mid last year to the tune of around $33,000. Now, in a sort of encore presentation, this distillery has rolled out a one-time so-called Legacy Collection which brings all the bottles together for a charity auction being held in Hong Kong.

The Macallan in Lalique Legacy Collection

The Macallan in Lalique Legacy Collection, as it is being called, will go up for auction through Sotheby’s on April 2, and is expected to fetch between $250,000 to $500,000 USD. As for what you’ll get for that price, the whole package includes:

  • The Macallan in Lalique – Exceptional Oak Cask, 50 Years Old
  • The Macallan in Lalique – Natural Colour, 55 Years Old
  • The Macallan in Lalique – Finest Cut, 57 Years Old
  • The Macallan in Lalique – Curiously Small Stills, 60 Years Old
  • The Macallan in Lalique – Spiritual Home, 62 Years Old
  • The Macallan in Lalique – Peerless Spirit, 65 Years Old
  • The Macallan Single Malt Fine & Rare 5cl (2 bottles of 1937, 2 bottles of 1938, 2 bottles of 1939)

Now, of course, a bumper crop of high end whiskies like these need a special home, and I’m not talking about the crystal decanters each whisky is housed in. Instead, they will rest comfortably a bespoke natural ebony cabinet created by Lalique Maison that includes six pairs of specially designed Lalique Macallan glasses.

If, after winning the auction, you wish to personalize your cabinet, the option exists to have your name engraved on it. All net proceeds from the auction will be donated to charities in Hong Kong and across Asia.
