Basil Hayden Bourbon Drinking Shoes Part Of New Gift Set

Would you buy a bourbon-themed, limited-edition gift set if it didn’t actually include any bourbon? It is a question to ponder as you read about this otherwise pretty cool Basil Hayden’s + Quoddy offering which includes special glasses and so-called “drinking shoes” you wear while sipping said American whiskey.

Beam Suntory bourbon brand Basil Hayden’s has teamed with Quoddy, a Maine-based footwear brand, to create 100 limited edition gift sets which each price for nearly $400. What do you get, exactly, for such a hefty price? I’m glad you asked as, according to information from Beam Suntory,

each gift set will feature four leather wrapped rocks glasses, artfully packaged in a handmade leather gift box. A pair of custom, made-to-order co-branded Basil Hayden’s + Quoddy shoes will accompany each gift set, giving bourbon fans the opportunity to don their “drinking shoes” as they sip Basil Hayden’s Bourbon.

Each pair of custom Basil Hayden’s + Quoddy drinking shoes is made using hand-sewn Horween leather — the same leather used to wrap each rocks glass — in a rich whiskey color and features a co-branded insole and stylishly branded exterior.

Given that the shoes are custom-made, each box initially contains just the glasses. The shoes, made based on information you provide when you place your order, will then arrive 6 to 8 weeks later. The box is available through an online store should you want to order it.

Now these shoes, while certainly neat, aren’t the first whiskey foot apparel we’ve ever written about. There was the story, for example, from last year about the Johnnie Walker shoes with a holding compartment built into the bottom to stash a small amount of Scotch. It’s too bad the Quoddy ones don’t have the same feature. In fact, as I said above, the gift set comes with no bourbon at all – bummer!
