Compass Box Flaming Heart Whisky A Late Night Sipper

Compass Flaming Heart The Compass Box independent Scotch bottling company, as we mentioned yesterday, is continuing to celebrate its 15th anniversary with the second of two recent releases. This time around it is a limited edition expression of its Flaming Heart whisky, which first debuted back in 2006.

The new Compass Box Flaming Heart 15th Anniversary release, like its predecessor, continues on the trend of combining “the rich, complex spice of Scotch aged in new French oak with the evocative peat-fired smoke of Islay malt.”

What’s in this offering, to that end, consists of a blending of a “27.1% 30 year old and 38.5% 14 year old malt whisky from the Caol Ila distillery, along with 24.1% of 20 year year old malt whisky from the Clynelish distillery. The final 10.3% Highland malt whisky [is then] aged in new French oak hybrid casks.”

The final product, bottled at 48.9% ABV, is limited to just 12,060 bottles globally that are pricing around $150 USD. Official tasting notes for it are below from Compass Box.

A unique interplay between spice, sweet and smoke characteristics. Sweet fruits and wood-smoke on the nose. Fat and full-bodied on the palate with a spicy sweetness and a brooding complexity that is rich, sweet and addictively decadent.
