7 Craft Whiskey Distilleries You Can Buy Directly From Online

Ever hear about a cool craft whiskey on a blog like this one and find it almost impossible to find a bottle of it online or in local stores for sale? That’s often the case with the many small distilleries making really great whiskey that’s only available if you visit the distillery itself or perhaps a liquor store near it. A select group of these operations though, realizing perhaps the potential of greater sales through the Internet, offer the chance for you to buy whiskey from them directly on their websites, subject to certain laws and shipping regulations.

A list of some of these distilleries are below with what’s current in their inventory at the time of this post, but before you buy from them make sure to check out their guidelines on where and to whom they can ship first.

10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company – Operating out of picture perfect Vail, Colorado, 10th Mountain gets its name from the U.S. Army’s elite 10th Mountain Division, which trained in the region during World War II. Offerings here include a 92 proof young bourbon ($58) and 86 proof rye ($45).

Charbay Distillery – Whiskey collectors in the know looking for top shelf spirits are always on the hunt for one of this legendary Napa Valley, California distillery’s limited edition bottlings. The pricing reflects this more elite status, as offerings here include a 14 year old whiskey distilled from microbrewed Pilsner beer ($425), their “S” whiskey ($136) and the R5 distilled from an IPA ($79).

Copper Run Distillery – Copper Run, which we’ve covered a fair amount here in the past, continues to churn out solid quality, small batch whiskies from their distillery in Missouri’s Ozark mountains. Recent offerings from this distillery include their primary Spirit whiskey aged in Missouri white oak barrels ($35) and a special three grain whiskey ($42).

Idaho Bourbon Distillers – Idaho Bourbon Distillers, as the name implies, makes whiskey out of Idaho. They are one of the only ones doing this in this state, drawing upon quality local grains to create whiskies aged six months to three years. Offerings at the moment here include two different bourbons, pricing at between $35 and $36.

Manatawny Still Works – Manatawny, based out of Pennsylvania, currently has for sale just one line of “small batch” whiskey ($40), and it is available at this time only to in-state residents. The whiskey is bottled at 94 proof and is a limited edition run.

Pittsburgh Distilling Company  – Pittsburg Distilling, better known as Wigle Whiskey, is also in Pennsylvania like Manatawny. They have a wider range of whiskies compared to the other distillery, but are also fairly limited in where they can ship. Offerings here include an organic rye ($50), organic wheat ($46), a range of “experimental” whiskies finished in different types of woods ($27) and some limited edition expressions under the “Whiskey Whims” name ($34).

Santa Fe Spirits – Operating out of New Mexico, Santa Fe Spirits has in its stable the well regarded Colkegan Single Malt Whiskey ($49). This whiskey is made from malted barley like Scottish single malts, but instead of getting its smoke from peat it instead is mesquite smoked for more of a Southwestern style expression.
