New Grand Macnish Blended Scotch Aims To Be Scotland In A Bottle

macnish-sixWhile there are a lot of blended Scotch brands on the market these days, few have the longevity of Grand Macnish. It has been in continuous production since 1863, when it was first developed by a Glasgow, Scotland merchant by the name of Robert MacNish. One of the latest offerings coming out of this brand is a new “Six Cask” edition described as offering a taste of “Scotland in a bottle.”

The Grand Macnish Six Cask Edition, pricing around $37 a bottle, draws from single malt whisky blended together from each of Scotland’s whisky producing regions, including Highland, Speyside, Islay, Campbeltown, Lowland and the Islands. There’s no mention of which distilleries’ Scotches are in the mix.

Official tasting notes from those behind this new blended Scotch are below for your consideration.

  • Nose: Hints of Smoke with floral notes and dried fruits from Islay and Speyside.
  • Palate: Vanilla, toffee slightly salty from Campbeltown and Islands.
  • Finish: Rich full bodied with sweet spices from the Highlands and Lowlands.
