Maker’s Mark Cask Strength Bourbon Is Ultimate Whiskey Stocking Stuffer

It isn’t often you see venerated bourbon brand Maker’s Mark releasing a new whiskey. Started in 1954 in Kentucky, the bourbon is known for being put into bottles sporting distinctive dipped red wax seals. A controversy last year around plans to lower the proof in the bottle was scuttled after negative feedback from the market and now, in an interesting reverse direction for the whiskey in terms of ABV, limited amounts of a “cask strength” release have begun appearing in retailers around the country.

Maker’s Mark Cask Strength is, as the name implies, Maker’s Mark that is straight from the barrel. It sports a proof ranging from 108 to 114 and is said to retain “the essence of original Maker’s Mark, with even more front-of-the-palate flavors. It just amplifies the taste that Maker’s Mark fans have come to love over the past 60 years.”

Now it isn’t clear at this point if the cask strength bourbon will be a limited release thing or something that finds its way into some kind of seasonal or general release.
