Lost Prophet 22 Year Old Bourbon To Join Orphan Barrel Line Up

lost-prophetThe Orphan Barrel whiskey series from spirits giant Diageo has thus far brought three old bourbons into the public light for purchase, including two 20 year old and one 26 year old bottlings. Now the brand is set to release Lost Prophet, a 22-year-old bourbon drawn as well from its older stock.

Lost Prophet was first distilled in 1991 in Frankfort, Kentucky, at what was one time the George T. Stagg distillery. It sat in barrel for 22 years before later being pulled from cask in the old Stitzel-Weller warehouses in Louisville. It was bottled at around 90 proof.

The mash bill for Lost Prophet is described as 75-78% corn, 7-10% barley and 15% rye. Tasting notes for it from Orphan Barrel indicate that beginning with

notes of honey, dried fruit, apricot and clove on the nose, Lost Prophet Whiskey tastes of spice cake, vanilla and leather before a sweet, smoky finish.

Current plans call for Lost Prophet to be released to retail in mid-December for around $120 per 750 ml bottle.
