Chivas Regal Whisky Goes Regal Extra In New Permanent Expression Addition

chivas-regalThe iconic blended Scotch brand of Chivas Regal traces its heritage back to its founding in the early 1800s. It is a very popular whisky, particularly overseas, and doesn’t see a lot of changes happening to the line up. A new family member was added recently to it though in the form of Chivas Regal Extra.

Chivas Regal Extra is a non-age statement Scotch which now is the fifth permanent expression in the Chivas Regal grouping. It is blended from “a special selection of whiskies matured in Oloroso sherry casks together with the rarest and finest malts in the Chivas inventory.” While it is not clear where the whiskies herald from, it is known whisky for this brand is commonly drawn at least from stock maturing in the Speyside-based Strathisla distillery.

This whisky’s official tasting notes are below. As for availability, expect to see it appearing in various domestic markets shortly, followed by global travel retail outlets next March.

Chivas Regal Extra has a fruity, sweet nose with notes of ripe pears, creamy toffee and a hint of ginger. The ripe pears continue on the palate, with sweet tropical flavours of melons and soft notes of vanilla and caramel, blending with spicy notes of cinnamon and hints of almonds, leading to a long and fulfilling finish.
